Close cooperation is one of the secrets of the solar energy industry's success in Thuringia. Companies, research and educational institutions, solar power initiatives, businesspersons, local governments and other public bodies have joined forces in the SolarInput network to make cooperation simple and effective. The network's offices are located at Erfurt Südost.

Its mission:

• To improve local innovative potential and pre-competitive research
• To improve the general environment for conducting R&D in solar electric and thermal energy
• To eliminate the competitive disadvantages of solar energy
• To nurture young talent and further educate industry players with workshops and training courses
• To support and carry out demonstration projects involving solar electric and thermal energy
• To build regional networks with partners from various branches of industry
• To inform the industry and the public at large of relevant issues
• To develop a photovoltaics campaign
